Named the timing of the plateau on COVID-19

Doctor of Medical Sciences, infectious disease specialist Nikolai Malyshev said when Russia will reach a plateau in the incidence of COVID-19, according to doctors working in covid hospitals. The specialist noted in a conversation with radio Sputnik that the incidence in the Russian regions is still high.

To stabilize the situation, the infectious disease specialist believes, some time is needed.

When the number of recovered per day matches the number of cases, it will also be possible to talk about reaching a plateau, which means that the wave of coronavirus will decline, the doctor said.

According to him, the plateau is still far away.

According to Malyshev, patients will continue to "accumulate" in hospitals for another three to four weeks. Only after this should we expect a cessation of the increase in the incidence.

On February 6, 12,749 people with COVID-19 were hospitalized in Russia per day. The number of people who recovered from COVID-19 in the country per day amounted to 59,583. In 24 hours, 180,071 cases of coronavirus infection were detected in the country, 661 people died.

Most of the cases of COVID-19 were detected in Moscow (18,856 per day), St. Petersburg (21,448) and the Moscow region (10,443).

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the country would not introduce additional restrictions due to the coronavirus, but on the contrary, some bans would be lifted.
