In the United States, they spoke about the difference in the rhetoric of Washington and Kiev about the escalation in Ukraine

US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield admitted that Washington's message and rhetoric about Russia's allegedly preparing escalation against Ukraine differs from the rhetoric of the Kiev authorities. She said this in an interview with MSNBC.

Thus, the presenter asked the diplomat whether Ukraine's indecision "about all this", demonstrated at the Friday press conference of the country's President Vladimir Zelensky, undermines the response of the allies.

As Thomas-Greenfield explained, she cannot speak for the Ukrainian leader.

“What I can say is that we had intense discussions with the Ukrainian government, with President Zelensky, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs,” she said.

She also indicated that she held a meeting in New York with the permanent representative of Ukraine, who had previously attended "our meeting."

“Our message is different, our rhetoric is a little different, but what we see at the border is not in dispute,” Thomas-Greenfield concluded.

The story of a possible “Russian invasion” of Ukraine has been actively promoted in the West since mid-autumn last year. The U.S. has consistently pointed to a supposed increase in Russian forces near the Ukrainian border, threatening Moscow with new sanctions if it escalates. At the same time, the Kremlin has more than once directly denied any plans to attack Ukraine, on the contrary, pointing to the possible preparation of a military operation in the Donbass by Kiev.
