Russia (bbabo.net), - Soldiers raised a banner to a height of more than two thousand meters in support of Russian athletes participating in the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.

The poster appeared on one of the peaks of the Western Sayan ridge, the press service of the Central Military District reports. For this purpose, five dozen servicemen climbed into the mountains on skis. They covered more than ten kilometers and in the final march they unfurled a banner with the Olympic rings.

“We follow the performances of our national team and we are worried. Even here, serving at the height, we support Russian athletes,” says Private Vladimir Samoilov, soldier of the mountain unit.

Out of 212 Russian athletes who compete in Beijing, 62 are members of army clubs.
