France assessed the likelihood of a war between Russia and Ukraine

France, unlike the United States, does not see signs of escalation on the border between Russia and Ukraine, writes Figaro, citing a source in the Elysee Palace.

“In what Vladimir Putin says, we do not see signs that he will go on the offensive,” the message says.

According to a French government source, the Champs Elysees, amid incessant reports of an “imminent invasion,” has decided to act more confidently than its counterparts from the United States.

Earlier, the details of the conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron became known.

On February 7, Putin and Macron held a personal meeting that lasted more than five hours. The leaders of the two countries spent part of the conversation at a working lunch, during which the Russian president treated Macron to sturgeon, venison and pear pie. Following the talks, a press conference was held, after which the politicians spoke for about 20 minutes more.
