Delaying the certification of the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline does not make sense; US demands to stop the project are unacceptable. This was stated in a conversation with TASS by Bundestag deputy from the Left Party, representative of the Foreign Policy Committee Sevim Dagdelen.
“It is absurd and daring that the US government is constantly demanding that the Nord Stream 2 project be curtailed, while at the same time increasing the volume of oil imports from Russia,” Dagdelen said.
She called the ultimatum statements by US President Joe Biden to stop Nord Stream 2 as disrespect for the democratic sovereignty of Germany and its European partners.
The parliamentarian suggested that Biden sees European partners as simply satellite countries that he wants to use as a market for non-environmentally fracking gas.
“Delaying the certification of Nord Stream 2 is stupid,” Dagdelen concluded.
Earlier, Austrian Minister of Digitalization and Economy Margarethe Schrambeck said that Vienna does not plan to abandon the launch of the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline if Russia does not attack Ukraine.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said the United States continues to oppose the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and will not allow it to be launched in the event of a Russian attack on Ukraine.
