France saw no signs of Russia preparing for an “invasion” of Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a telephone conversation with French leader Emmanuel Macron on Saturday, said nothing to indicate that Moscow was preparing to invade Ukraine. This was stated by the official representative of the French President, reports Reuters.

"We see no indication in President Putin's words that he is about to launch an offensive. However, we are monitoring the Russian (military) position extremely closely to avoid the worst," Macron's spokesman said.

He also noted that France recommends that French citizens avoid traveling to Ukraine.

Putin and Macron discussed Russia's proposed security guarantees, the situation around Ukraine and "provocative speculation" about an allegedly planned Russian "invasion," the Kremlin press service said earlier. The press service of the Russian president noted that "to the accompaniment" of these statements, a large-scale pumping of the Ukrainian side with modern weapons is being carried out and prerequisites are being created for possible aggressive actions of Kiev in the Donbass.

Putin and Macron spoke for 1 hour and 40 minutes to try to ease the growing tensions in the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.
