The Republic of Donbass is unlikely to be able to offer serious resistance to the Ukrainian army, said Ruslan Pukhov, director of the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies. According to him, in the event of an offensive operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the defeat of the DPR and LPR will be a matter of hours, not days.
“Firstly, in the event of a possible offensive by Ukraine, Donetsk will probably fall on the second day - there is no doubt about that. It is very close to the front line, it actually passes through the suburbs of Donetsk. Secondly, in the event of an offensive, the Ukrainians will, of course, try to reach the border with Russia in order to announce that the problem has been solved. Their task will be to prevent Russia from interfering in the situation, ”the expert noted.
From the point of view of Pukhov, at the moment the forces of the LDNR are not in the best condition: "the republics are bled, people are tired of the war and, to put it mildly, are not very combat-ready in such a situation."
“Probably there is a very serious shortage, so they will be able to offer little resistance. And if Russia does not intervene quickly, then, in principle, the defeat of the republics is a matter of hours, not days. I mean not three or four hours, but 36 hours or 48 hours,” the expert emphasized.
