Lavrov accused the United States of provocations to start a war in Donbass

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, during a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, said that the United States and its allies launched a propaganda campaign about "Russian aggression" against Ukraine with provocative goals. His words are quoted by the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“The propaganda campaign launched by the United States and its allies about “Russian aggression” against Ukraine pursues provocative goals, encouraging the authorities in Kiev to sabotage the Minsk agreements and harmful attempts to resolve the “Donbass problem” by force,” the press service quoted Lavrov as saying.

In addition, in a conversation with Blinken, Lavrov recalled "the inadmissibility of actions that violate the commitments made at the highest level on the indivisibility of security in the Euro-Atlantic region."

The telephone conversation was held at the initiative of the American side. Prior to this, Blinken and Lavrov spoke by phone on February 2. They discussed security guarantees, to which the Russian Foreign Ministry had previously received a response, as well as possible meetings of the heads of state. Blinken confirmed the position of the American side that each state has the right to independently determine its foreign policy, including in the matter of union elections.

In mid-December last year, the Russian Foreign Ministry published security agreements for the US and NATO. They took into account the concerns of the parties, in particular on the situation in Ukraine. Russia's main conditions are that NATO will not move east and will deny Ukraine membership in the alliance.
