Russia (bbabo.net), - The State Duma supported in the second reading a bill on the withdrawal of dubious funds from the accounts of officials. If the amount exceeds the income of a civil servant for three years, then the money will go to the state.

The initiative was prepared by the government. The innovation concerns persons who, by virtue of their position, submit declarations of income, expenses and property. The official will be able to keep the funds if he proves that he earned them honestly. To do this, you will need to provide reliable information confirming the legitimacy of receiving money. It is clarified that the check will begin if we are talking about amounts over 10 thousand rubles.

According to the amendments to the second reading, banks and other credit organizations will issue certificates on transactions, accounts and deposits of such citizens at the request of the Prosecutor General, his deputies, as well as regional and military prosecutors. In addition, requests will be sent to payment agents, tax authorities and operators that issue or deal with digital financial assets.

The accounts of the official's wife and his minor children can also be checked.

As the head of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption Vasily Piskarev explained earlier, the legislation already provides for the possibility of turning illegally acquired property of corrupt officials into state revenue, but this only applies to land, real estate, cars and securities. According to the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, in 2020, claims of this kind were filed in the amount of 74 billion rubles.

However, the law does not yet allow withdrawing money from those who have not proven the legality of their origin. The bill eliminates this legal gap.

The third reading is planned not to be postponed and will be held on 16 February.
