Psaki said she had no data on new negotiations between Biden and Putin

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said at a briefing that US President Joe Biden believes in "the power of diplomacy", but Washington is not yet ready to announce the next contact between the American and Russian leaders.

“I have nothing to say about the next contact at the moment,” Psaki said.

Last month, Biden said during a press conference at the White House that he considered it possible to hold another summit with the Russian leader.

On February 12, Putin had a telephone conversation with Biden. The latter noted that "the two great powers are still competitors, but they must do everything to maintain stability and security" throughout the world.

On December 30, telephone conversations between Putin and Biden took place. The President of the United States, in a conversation with Putin, mentioned possible "large-scale sanctions", he warned in response that this would be a major mistake that could lead to a complete rupture of relations. The parties agreed to continue negotiations after the New Year.

Prior to this, the presidents communicated on December 7 over a closed line, paying special attention to the Ukrainian crisis. As noted in the White House, the US president threatened his Russian counterpart with a tough response in the event of a military escalation in Ukraine. The Kremlin said that the Russian leader demanded that the head of the White House not shift all responsibility to Moscow, and also give guarantees that NATO would not expand to the East.
