The Foreign Ministry recalled that in 2014 the Crimeans legally voted for reunification with Russia, and this is not surprising - the initiators of the coup in Ukraine, with the support of the West, headed for the creation of a nationalist state that infringes on the rights of the Russian-speaking population and other "non-titular" ethnic groups "

The day before, the Russian Foreign Ministry published the text of Moscow's written reaction to the US response on security guarantees. Moscow criticized the reaction of Washington and NATO to the Russian proposals. Moscow also announced the need to withdraw absolutely all "forces and weapons" of the United States from the Baltic states, Central and Eastern Europe.

US authorities have already confirmed that they have received a response.

Earlier, the defense ministers of NATO member countries at a meeting in Brussels discussed the initiative of the State Duma to recognize the independence of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. As a result, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Russia's recognition of the DPR and LPR would violate the sovereignty of Ukraine and Minsk-2.
