Switzerland lifts almost all anti-COVID restrictions

The Swiss authorities have lifted most of the anti-coronavirus restrictions. As the Federal Council (the country's government) informed, from today, when visiting shops, restaurants, cultural institutions, it is no longer required to present a covid certificate and wear masks. From now on, protective equipment is only needed when traveling on public transport and when inside medical institutions.

Also, you no longer need to obtain permits for mass events, private meetings are not limited in any way. However, it is still recommended to work from home if possible.

According to the federal authorities, the epidemiological situation in Switzerland is changing in a positive direction. As noted, "due to the high immunity of the population, an overload of the healthcare system is unlikely, despite the still significant circulation of the virus."

According to the latest data, more than 2.6 million cases of coronavirus have been registered in Switzerland since the beginning of the pandemic, 12.5 thousand people have died, which is quite high figures for a population of 8.6 million people. At the moment, 69 percent of the inhabitants of the confederation have been vaccinated.
