Tokayev will send a message to the people of Kazakhstan in mid-March

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will talk about the results of the investigation into the mass riots that took place in January in different cities of the country in a message to the people of the country in March. This was announced by the press secretary of the head of state, Berik Uali, on his Facebook page.

The spokesman also said that law enforcement agencies are currently conducting large-scale investigative actions. They will take some time.

Recall that the day before, in an interview with the Kazakhstan TV channel, Tokayev promised that all information would be published. In this interview, he also expressed the opinion that during the January events in Kazakhstan, an attempt was made to overthrow the government. According to him, the conspirators wanted to reverse the course of reforms. "They opposed the president because the changes could affect their personal interests," Tokayev said.

The President of Kazakhstan believes that social problems are at the heart of mass protests in the country. "If we approach the problem in a complex way, then acute social problems lie at the heart of mass protests. Most of the population has a low standard of living," Tokayev said. He noted that the lion's share of the state's wealth is concentrated in the hands of a narrow group of people. "Inequality is on the rise. This gives rise to protest moods," he said. At the same time, the head of state came to the conclusion that terrorists took advantage of the discontent of the citizens.

Tokayev said that the January events were a great lesson both for Kazakhstan and for him personally.

Recall that in early January, mass riots took place in Kazakhstan. By January 7, the situation had stabilized.
