US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield, arguing for Russian plans to "attack" Ukraine, in an interview with CNN said that Russia "invaded other parts of Eastern Europe", without specifying which regions in question. At the same time, the diplomat stressed that if the Russian “invasion” does not happen, then this will mean that American diplomatic efforts have had an effect.
