Former Russian Ambassador to Moldova: Blockade measures are counterproductive for Pridnestrovie

Moldova (bbabo.net), - Former Russian Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Farit Mukhametshin stated that "blockade methods of influencing Pridnestrovie, which are increasingly actively carried out by the authorities of Ukraine and Moldova, are counterproductive and lead the settlement process to a dead end." He stated this at the meeting with a delegation of the Supreme Council of Transnistria, who is on a visit to Moscow. Information about this is posted on the website of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, infotag.md reports.

According to the report, the meeting discussed "issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation, the development of economic ties between Pridnestrovie and Russian regions, as well as the situation around the Pridnestrovian settlement in the context of internal political processes taking place in Moldova."

"As before, we consider the 5+2 format, in which Pridnestrovie is an internationally recognized and equal participant, to be the only acceptable negotiating platform for finding a comprehensive and viable solution to the Transnistrian problem. Russia will seek to intensify the work of this format in 2022," - assured the senator.

He also stated that Russia "shares the assessments of the Pridnestrovian side regarding the provocative nature of the rhetoric of official Chisinau on the topic of the Russian military presence in the region and the current format of the peacekeeping operation."
