Boris Johnson to present plan to lift coronavirus restrictions a month early

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that people should not neglect Covid-19 precautions as the country is expected to lift all restrictions related to the virus in the coming days. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the prime minister's office.

Johnson on February 21 will lay out a plan for the country's life in the conditions of coexistence with the coronavirus. The current coronavirus lockdown requirements are due to expire on March 24, but Johnson previously suggested that all remaining measures could be lifted this month "if the data remains encouraging."

“The cabinet will meet on Monday morning to agree on a plan to combat COVID-19, and the prime minister is expected to provide an update to parliament this afternoon. A press conference is expected to be held in the evening," the statement said.

The legal requirement to self-isolate is also expected to be lifted this week, in part “thanks to the phenomenal success of the vaccination program.”

On February 11, the UK authorities lifted the mandatory quarantine for unvaccinated tourists and those who were vaccinated with non-WHO-approved drugs. Now, the specified categories of people entering the country will need to pass two PCR tests - one before the trip, and the second no later than two days after arriving in the UK.
