Head of LPR: Humanitarian catastrophe was avoided only thanks to Russia

The head of the Luhansk People's Republic, Leonid Pasechnik, admitted on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel that a humanitarian catastrophe in the republic was avoided solely thanks to Russia's help.

According to Pasechnik, since 2014 Kiev has been implementing an aggressive policy towards civilians in Donbass, leaving the LPR and DPR without water and light, and pursuing a policy of economic blockade against enterprises of the republics. "It is only thanks to Russia's help that a humanitarian catastrophe has not befallen us," the head of the LPR pointed out.

Earlier, the heads of the LPR and DPR Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to recognize the independence of the LPR and DPR. According to the authorities of the republics, this will avoid the mass death of civilians against the backdrop of Kiev's intentions to carry out a full-scale offensive in eastern Ukraine.
