In Russia, work on the creation of a light military transport aircraft Il-112V has been suspended until the investigation of the crash with the first prototype of the aircraft is completed. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to a source in the military-industrial complex.
According to him, work under the state contract has been suspended since February 9. The assembly of the second and third flight samples of the Il-112V was also suspended. It is noted that the decision to continue the work will be made by the state customer (Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation) based on the results of the investigation.
In turn, another source in the defense industry clarified that the next stage of development work on the Il-112 aircraft is approaching, however, following the results of the investigation of the accident, additional work on the engine and airframe may be required.
“In order not to do double work, not to spend extra money and not create prerequisites for disrupting the deadlines for contractual obligations, the project was put on hold until the conclusions of the commission, having documented it,” he explained.
Earlier, the head of the Rostec corporation, Sergei Chemezov, said that the Il-112V program would be continued, taking into account the disaster in Kubinka.
On August 17, a prototype of the Il-112V aircraft crashed during tests in Kubinka near Moscow. The liner was performing a training flight and crashed while landing. Three crew members were on board, they died in the crash. The pilots who flew the Il-112V, until the last moment, tried to take the plane away from the houses.
