The Austrian Economic Chamber called for a sober assessment of the consequences of anti-Russian sanctions

Russia is an important market for the Austrian economy. We should not get carried away with tough restrictive measures that will negatively affect bilateral economic relations, said Karlheinz Kopf, Secretary General of the Chamber of Economics.

According to him, the EU sanctions policy towards Russia should be soberly assessed, the consequences should be carefully calculated. You can't hurt yourself the most. The restrictive measures already taken by the European Union against Moscow for recognizing the independence of the proclaimed republics of the LPR and DPR will affect the business climate.

"All means must be used for a peaceful settlement of the conflict. The economy can and will continue to play the role of a bridge builder," Kronen Zeitung quoted the head of the Chamber of Economics as saying.

According to the Austrian Economic Chamber, in the first seven months of 2021, trade with Russia, despite the pandemic, amounted to about 3 billion euros. Direct Austrian investments in Russia amount to 4.6 billion euros. This made it possible to provide jobs for about 50 thousand people.
