Saudi crown prince sees Israel as 'potential ally'

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in an extensive interview with The Atlantic, made it clear that he was ready to build relations with Israel under certain conditions, reports bbabo.net.

“We do not look at Israel as an enemy, we look at it as a potential ally, and there are many interests that we can pursue together ... But for this we need to resolve a number of issues,” Prince Mohammed bin Salman explained.

The 36-year-old heir to the Saudi throne noted that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict remains a stumbling block in building relations

“As for us, we hope that the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians will be resolved,” he said.

In the past, Saudi Arabia has repeatedly stated that it will follow a years-long policy of refusing official relations with Israel, but with the coming to power of Prince Muhammad, the foreign policy of the kingdom has changed - Saudi Arabia has allowed Israeli aircraft to fly through its airspace, and the prince does not renounce official relations with Israel.
