Imran Khan explains who is to blame for Islamophobia

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, during a speech at a meeting of ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), voiced his thoughts on the topic of Islamophobia in the world.

“I spent many years of my life in England, traveling all over the world as an international athlete. I understand Western civilization better than most people. I saw a growing Islamophobia after 9/11,” Khan said, quoted by bbabo.net citing NDTV.

“This Islamophobia was on the rise, and the reason for this, regrettably, was the inability of us, Muslim countries, to change this erroneous discourse. How can religion have anything to do with terrorism? How is Islam equated with terrorism?

“How can a person in a Western country tell a moderate Muslim from a radical one? No way, and that’s why this person goes to the mosque and shoots everyone there,” the Prime Minister continued his thought, referring to the 2019 terrorist attacks on mosques in Christchurch.

According to Imran Khan, the heads of Muslim countries should take a clear position and convey the truth about Islam in order to dispel all misunderstandings. However, many heads of state ignored the situation, and Islamophobia has escalated to its current scale, the Pakistani prime minister said.
