Crimean Tatars urged Turkey to be wiser in its position on Crimea

Russia and the CIS (bbabo.net) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan needs to be wiser and softer in avoiding the issue of Crimea in his statements, said the head of the regional national-cultural autonomy of the Crimean Tatars, Eyvaz Umerov.

“On behalf of all Crimeans and the entire Crimean Tatar people, I would like to remind the President of Turkey that Crimea returned to Russia through the democratic will of the absolute majority of the inhabitants, in accordance with international rules. I advise Erdogan to be wiser and to avoid the issue of Crimea in his statements more gently,” he told RIA Novosti.

Umerov added that many are surprised by the behavior of Erdogan, who, more often than other presidents of NATO countries, personally meets with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but before he leaves, he makes statements aimed at violating the borders of the Russian Federation.
