India accuses Turkey of disrespecting UN resolutions

Greater Middle East (bbabo.net), - India has accused Turkey of 'blatant disregard' for UN security resolutions in Libya amid renewed fighting in the country between forces supporting rival prime ministers. This was reported by the news portal Middle East Monitor on September 2.

Towards the end of August, violent clashes broke out in the Libyan capital of Tripoli between militias fighting on the side of opposing forces in the country after factions supporting eastern-based Prime Minister Fathi Bashag entered the city.

The fighting, which has killed dozens and injured hundreds, has raised fears of a resumption of civil war in the country a year after the creation of a new unified Libyan government. Turkey is one of the most active foreign players on the Libyan track. Ankara uses armed groups to consolidate its own positions in the region. Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri has repeatedly accused Turkey of transferring terrorists to Libya and destabilizing the situation in the country.
