A record number of documents were adopted at the SCO summit in Samarkand

Asia (bbabo.net), - As a result of negotiations, a record number of documents were adopted. This was announced today, on September 16, at a press conference following the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), held in Samarkand, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov.

According to the minister, more than 40 agreements, concepts, programs and other decisions have been adopted that will contribute to filling a qualitatively new practical content of cooperation in promising areas of the SCO's activities.

According to him, the SCO is entering a new, even more important stage in its development.

“The Organization will have to solve many priority tasks of cooperation. In this context, the leader of our country put forward a number of specific proposals and practical initiatives on topical issues of multifaceted cooperation within the SCO,” Norov said.

He announced the launch of a number of new formats and mechanisms of cooperation within the SCO in such areas as information and communication technologies, food security and poverty reduction.

In order to jointly overcome the crisis and achieve sustainable development in the SCO space, the head of our state noted the need to expand cooperation in the field of economy, trade and investment. In this regard, an initiative has been put forward to launch a large-format SCO New Economic Dialogue aimed at building effective models of practical cooperation in changing realities,” Norov added.

The minister noted that the main final document of the summit - the Samarkand Declaration - reflected the common approaches of the SCO countries to solving regional and world problems, and outlined the priorities for the development of the organization.

“The summit demonstrated the growing responsibility of the organization in connection with modern global challenges and threats,” concluded the head of the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan.
