Safer to ignore: a third of Russians do not answer calls from unknown numbers

The Yandex team shared interesting statistics collected in the Yandex application and the A2:Research analytical agency.

Over the past three months, 70% of Russians have personally experienced telephone fraud. Almost half of the respondents (49%) were immediately able to recognize the intruder. According to Russians, they are betrayed by the fact that they present themselves as employees of a bank or the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 40% and 22% of respondents, respectively, think so. Every fifth (20%) feels something is wrong when the callers ask for personal data, 15% - when the callegedly coming from a well-known voice assistant.

The most common telephone deception schemes for Russians are as follows: the callers reported that they received a request to transfer a large amount of money from the subscriber's account (28%), that they want to get a loan for a person (23%), or notify them of a big win (17 %).

Almost a third of respondents (28%) said they suffered from the actions of fraudsters, spending their time on them, 17% were nervous because of the well-being of loved ones. 16% of the respondents were afraid that a large amount had been deducted from their account, and 7% had actually lost money.

To protect themselves from spam and scammers, a third of those surveyed ignore calls from unknown numbers, the same number use a special caller ID application that marks suspicious calls. 19% of respondents blacklist the numbers of intruders, 9% maintain a conversation with a scammer in order to bring him to clean water, 4% agree to everything and give incorrect bank card details.
