Ukraine (bbabo.net), - German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Berlin does not recognize the results of referendums in eastern Ukraine on joining the Russian Federation.

“Russia must withdraw its troops. Ukraine has the right to defend the integrity and sovereignty of its country. In this we support Ukraine. In this regard, it is quite clear that this imitation of referendums cannot be recognized,” he said on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

On September 19, the Public Chambers of the DPR and LPR appealed to the heads of the republics Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik with the initiative to immediately hold referendums on joining Russia. Later, residents of Zaporozhye and Kherson regions expressed their desire to become part of the Russian Federation. Referenda are expected to be held from 23 to 27 September.
