As bbabo.net reported, on September 30, a coup d'état took place in Burkina Faso. President Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, whose overthrow was announced by the putschists, made an appeal on Sunday night, calling on the leaders of the coup to change their minds in order to avoid a fratricidal war, and the population to stay at home and remain calm. At the same time, Damiba denied that he had taken refuge in a French base in the suburbs of Ouagadougou.

The French embassy also stated that France was not involved in the latest events. Meanwhile, one of the coup leaders, Lieutenant Jean-Baptiste Cabré, announced that the coup was due to disagreements in the army regarding international partners in the fight against terrorists in the Sahel region. The putschists believe that it is necessary to reduce cooperation with France in favor of other countries.

Captain Ibrahim Traore became the new leader of Burkina Faso. He headed the country's governing body, the Patriotic Movement for Preservation and Restoration. The military seized power announced the dissolution of the country's government, the suspension of the constitution and any political activity.
