The President of Kazakhstan gave the government 3 years to complete the repair of all thermal power plants and heating networks

Asia (bbabo.net), - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the government to repair all thermal power plants and heating networks in Kazakhstan within three years, reports today, December 12, Zakon.kz.

According to the agency, he said this at an expanded government meeting on Monday. The head of Kazakhstan stressed that state-owned energy facilities should be repaired at the expense of the budget. And private facilities need to be modernized at their own expense as part of the "Tariff in exchange for investment" program.

“The government is obliged to promptly begin to solve this problem. In addition to themselves, the heating networks remain in a deplorable state,” Tokayev said.

According to him, today more than 1.5 thousand kilometers of heating networks are in urgent need of replacement and repair. Their average wear and tear exceeds 75%, and in the cities of Arkalyk, Ridder and Shemonaikha, the networks are completely worn out.

“The government needs to resolve this issue within three years. According to the report of the commission, we are talking about 528 billion tenge. These funds should be provided through adequate budget lending and tariff policy,” Tokayev said further.

What happened in Ekibastuz, the President of Kazakhstan called "a real disaster." He noted that the situation clearly demonstrated the irresponsible attitude towards the heating season of government agencies and subjects of natural monopolies.
