The press release noted that National Police agents detained two people in Madrid on Thursday, February 29, for their alleged involvement in a crime involving the purchase of two stolen paintings by expressionist artist Francis Bacon. It is reported that the cost of each painting is estimated at 5 million euros.

The investigation was launched back in 2015 after five Bacon paintings were stolen from a house in Madrid, with a total value of 25 million euros.
