The French Ministry of Defense plans to confiscate equipment from private companies

European Union (bbabo.net), - French Defense Minister Sebastian Lecornu this week did not rule out rather radical measures as part of the transition to a military regime in the country's economy. The details are reported by Gazeta. The French authorities, in particular, may begin confiscating machinery and equipment from private companies. Lecornu also added that he was making such an announcement so that no one would be surprised in the future.

The government does not rule out similar actions if defense enterprises cannot cope with high workloads.

“For the first time, I do not rule out taking measures permitted by law,” the minister commented on the future requisition of resources needed by the French authorities.

The transition of entire factories and large production facilities to state control is not excluded. In general, official Paris is relying on its own arms industry, which should produce more products and support the French army, as well as send new weapons to Ukraine.

Scholz doesn’t want war: we won’t give Taurus, we won’t send troops - the chancellor is adamant

European Union (bbabo.net), - German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that he refuses to give the green light for the supply of long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine, since the main thing for him is to prevent the outbreak of war between NATO and Russia.

In an interview with the Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung published today, March 28, he recalled that since February 2022, Germany has spent more than 28 million euros on helping Kyiv, doing “more than any other country in Europe.”

“As head of government, I must take responsibility in matters of war and peace, as well as in matters of security in Europe - and this also applies to the Taurus issue. In addition to strong support for Ukraine, one thing remains important for me: we will do everything possible to prevent the war from escalating, that is, (not starting) a war between Russia and NATO,” the head of the German government indicated, adding that Berlin will weigh decisions in the future for any type of weapon.

Scholz also noted that Germany does not intend to send its troops to Ukraine.

However, in the context of continuing support for Ukraine, Berlin, according to the chancellor, is ready to do as much as necessary to show Vladimir Putin “that he should not just wait until everyone else gives up their support” for Ukraine.

Olaf Scholz earlier this month rejected the idea of a “circular exchange” of cruise missiles with the UK, as part of which Kiev would receive more long-range weapons, reiterating his position that if the Ukrainian Armed Forces were to transfer these missiles with a range of up to 500 km, Germany could be drawn into an armed war. conflict.

Representatives of Ukraine, in turn, indicate that receiving Taurus cruise missiles from Germany is “a priority for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 2024.”
