Russian Tatarstan and Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan will develop ties

Asia (bbabo.net), - Russian Tatarstan and the Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan will take the development of ties to a new level. Following the results of the meeting held in Termez (the administrative center of the Uzbek region), the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the head of the administration of the Surkhandarya region Ulugbek Kosimov came to such an agreement, reports Sputnik Uzbekistan.

According to the agency, the parties considered the possibilities of implementing projects of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation. In particular, prospects for cooperation were outlined in the areas of oil refining, transport and logistics, education, agriculture, innovative technologies and livestock development.

“In order to develop cooperation in the cultural sphere, an agreement was reached on organizing Days of Culture and organizing visits of delegations from the two regions to festive events,” the agency quotes from a message from the press service of the regional administration.

Following the meeting on the development of cooperation between Tatarstan and Surkhandarya at a new stage, the leaders of the two regions signed a joint statement.

After the negotiations, the guests were shown the carpet production company Termiz National Carpets LLC.

Every year it produces 2.2 million m² of carpets. 55% of products are supplied to the domestic market, 45% to neighboring countries: Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Tatarstan delegations demonstrated production processes, as well as finished products.

Then the guests got acquainted with the activities of the logistics center for the cultivation, storage, sorting and export of agricultural products, organized by TERMIZ AGRO IMPEX LLC and established by the Russian enterprise LETO.

“The center contains 3 hectares of greenhouse, 4 hectares of open space, as well as a 3,000 m² freezer warehouse. Broccoli, cabbage, herbs, rosemary, tomatoes and cucumbers are grown in greenhouses and open areas. This year they plan to export products worth $2.5 million from the logistics center,” the statement says.

It is noted that the processes of growing, storing and preparing products for export aroused great interest among the head of Tatarstan. He instructed his responsible persons to implement projects in this direction together with entrepreneurs of Surkhandarya. The Uzbek side also confirmed its interest in cooperation.

Next, Minnikhanov and Kosimov visited the export and logistics center in the Bakhor mahalla of the Angora district, and also got acquainted with the products grown by the local population and farms. Cultivated crops include white and cauliflower cabbage, broccoli, daikon, red beets and greens.

As the head of Tatarstan noted, agricultural products grown by local farmers are in demand in Russian markets.

“This is due to the climatic and soil conditions of the territory, since the crop ripens early, and this further increases the demand for it,” Minnikhanov said.

The visit of the head of Tatarstan to the Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan took place on March 27-28.
