Pashinyan besieged Shahramanyan for the Karabakh “government in exile”

Caucasus (bbabo.net), - Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during a meeting of the government of the republic today, March 28, accused representatives of the unrecognized and self-abolished Nagorno-Karabakh Republic from January 1, 2024 of creating threats to the security of Armenia.

“Some circles, forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, are taking steps that pose a threat to the national security of Armenia. They are announcing some kind of government in exile, etc. I want to clearly state so that everyone can understand that there is one government in Armenia and it sits in this hall,” Pashinyan noted.

According to him, if necessary, appropriate measures should be taken so that external forces do not use “certain circles” to create threats to Armenia.

“Whether intentionally or unwittingly is another question, but one that also needs to be answered. Today I am not ready to make conclusions on this matter,” Pashinyan said.

The Prime Minister further indicated that if someone identifies themselves as the “government” in Armenia, then this is a matter of national security of Armenia, and this should not be a consequence of shortcomings in the work of the law enforcement agencies of the republic.

“Those who deliver messages already had this opportunity, and we saw what they did with this opportunity,” Pashinyan noted.

The President of the former NKR Samvel Shahramanyan, in an interview published the day before with the French newspaper Le Figaro, answering the question whether Nagorno-Karabakh has a government in exile, Shakharmanyan answered in the affirmative: “Yes, in the building where I am receiving you, the President’s office and legislative and law enforcement agencies are located . Parliamentarians can meet here to vote.”

Let us recall that on September 19, 2023, Azerbaijan announced an “anti-terrorist operation” in Nagorno-Karabakh. During the day of fighting, the Karabakh side lost about two hundred people killed and more than 400 wounded, several thousand civilians were evacuated from the battle zone, accompanied by Russian peacekeepers. More than one hundred thousand Karabakh Armenians then rushed along the Lachin corridor towards Armenia. Azerbaijan lost more than 200 soldiers and officers killed and over 500 wounded. The Russian peacekeeping contingent also suffered losses - six Russian servicemen were killed.

As a result of the “one-day war,” the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army agreed to lay down its arms and disband. On September 28, President of Nagorno-Karabakh Samvel Shahramanyan issued a decree on the dissolution of government agencies and the termination of the existence of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (Republic of Artsakh) from January 1, 2024.
