Asia (bbabo.net), - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, on the sidelines of the Boao Asian Forum, which is taking place these days on the Chinese island of Hainan, met with the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (parliament) Zhao Leji. According to the press service, the Kazakh leader thanked the leadership of the PRC and the secretariat of the Boao Asian Forum for the invitation and excellent organization of the event. According to him, this forum is very important and deserves the most serious support.
“I would like to take this opportunity to convey my greetings and respect to President Xi Jinping. We look forward to his state visit in early July to Kazakhstan. We are confident that under the wise leadership of President Xi Jinping, all important tasks will be fully realized. We highly appreciate Mr. Xi Jinping's personal contribution to strengthening good neighborliness, centuries-old friendship and eternal comprehensive strategic partnership between our countries. Through joint efforts, we have built effective interstate cooperation in all areas. I remember with great warmth our meeting with Mr. Xi Jinping in Beijing. I think that our efforts aimed at deepening and diversifying cooperation between Kazakhstan and China will be successful,” Tokayev said.
He emphasized that all efforts of the parties are aimed at bringing Kazakh-Chinese relations to a qualitatively new level.
“In general, relations of friendship and cooperation with China are an absolute priority for us. We encourage all government departments to work closely with relevant departments of the PRC to develop a comprehensive strategic partnership. Today, during my speech, I gave specific examples related to our cooperation, the growth of trade, and the growth of Chinese investment in our economy. All this, of course, is very important. Taking this opportunity, I would once again like to repeat my invitation to you personally to visit Kazakhstan on an official visit as Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress,” Tokayev further said.
In turn, Zhao Leji warmly greeted the President of Kazakhstan and noted the dynamic development of bilateral ties, and conveyed “sincere greetings and best wishes to Chairman Xi Jinping.”
“Your participation demonstrates that you pay special attention to the development of Chinese-Kazakh relations and provide great support to the forum’s activities. Your country recently celebrated the traditional holiday of the beginning of spring - Nauryz. “I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you, Mr. President, and the friendly people of Kazakhstan on this holiday,” said Zhao Leji.
He recalled last year’s meetings between Xi Jinping and Tokayev, held in Xi’an and Beijing.
“New grandiose plans were outlined for the development of bilateral relations. The Chinese side is ready to work together with their Kazakh colleagues to implement important agreements reached by the heads of state, strengthen political trust and deepen practical cooperation in order to achieve strategic goals,” added the Chairman of the Chinese Parliament.
It is reported that during the negotiations the interlocutors discussed in detail the prospects for further strengthening trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, and also reviewed the progress of implementation of joint projects in the fields of transport, industry, tourism and others.
