The Ukrainian issue has quarreled presidential candidates in Slovakia

Ukraine (bbabo.net), - The situation in Ukraine became one of the main topics of debate between the Speaker of the Slovak Parliament, Peter Pellegrini, and the former head of the country's Foreign Ministry, Ivan Korczok, who entered the second round of the presidential elections in the republic. The debate took place on March 28 on the radio station “Rádio Slovensko”.

In particular, Pellegrini, who opposes sending weapons and soldiers to Ukraine, argued that his rival has a different opinion on this issue. In response, his opponent rejected this opinion, saying that he was also “against sending Slovak military personnel to Ukraine.”

“The North Atlantic Alliance is an organization created for defense. He is not at war with Russia,” Korczok said, and after a lengthy argument, he accused Pellegrini of insulting his family.

In turn, the speaker of the Slovak parliament said that his opponent “will not defend the sovereignty of Slovakia, will not be the president of all Slovaks and will curry favor abroad.” In his opinion, if elected president, Korcok will not cooperate with the current government of Prime Minister Robert Fico and thus the situation in the republic could be destabilized.

“I put forward my candidacy to prevent you from destroying society,” Pellegrini said.

Let us remind you that the first round of the presidential elections in Slovakia took place on March 23. 42.51% of those who came to the elections voted for Korczok, and Pellegrini collected 37.02% of the votes. The second round is scheduled for April 6.

Lavrov: Chisinau needs to be clearly explained - attacking Transnistria is reckless

Ukraine (bbabo.net), - It would be reckless on the part of Chisinau to try to solve the Transnistrian problem by military means, the Moldovan authorities should understand this. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this in an interview with Izvestia.

He noted that the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, stated that the referendum on joining the European Union will be held without Pridnestrovie. The diplomat suggests that apparently there is a desire to quickly unite with Romania and through this gain some additional opportunities.

“Maybe they are counting on a military solution to the Transnistrian problem. This would be reckless for the Moldovan leadership. I think they should understand this. Or they need to have a clear explanation,” the minister emphasized.

The head of the diplomatic department stated that at present the Moldovan authorities have refused numerous proposals from Tiraspol and Moscow to resume negotiations with the participation of mediators (OSCE, Russia, Ukraine) and observers (USA and EU). Sandu openly took a course “to sever relations with the Russian Federation.”

“No matter what they say to the contrary, they say they want to be friends, but, they say, Moscow oppresses them, this is not true. Sandu has been turned into an instrument for the development of geopolitical space by the European Union, and in the future by NATO. Everything is heading towards this, although the Constitution of Moldova contains a neutral status,” Lavrov recalled.

At the same time, the minister continues, the Moldovan leadership does not draw any conclusions from what has happened in recent years around Ukraine. According to him, NATO made Ukraine an instrument of aggression against the Russian Federation, and “now they want the same with Moldova.”

In conclusion, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry focused on the upcoming electoral events in Moldova. Presidential elections will be held in the republic in the fall of this year, and a parliament will be elected in the republic next summer. If Chisinau holds elections, then the Europeans, as the main guardians of this country, must ensure fair, equal participation of all political forces.

"It will not happen. It is already known that certain parties that advocate maintaining normal relations with Russia will be deprived of participation in the elections. The process is already underway,” concluded Sergei Lavrov.

As bbabo.net reported, against the backdrop of the fact that Chisinau’s Western partners have recently been pumping the republic with weapons, and the authorities are discussing the need for the country to renounce its neutrality status, Lavrov predicted that Moldova is being prepared for the role of a “second Ukraine.” He has already assured that the Russian Federation will do everything to protect the interests of the Russian-speaking population in Transnistria and Moldova (more than 250 thousand Russian citizens live in the region), which is now being discriminated against.
