Russian missiles and UAVs did not fly over Moldova - Chisinau

Ukraine (bbabo.net), - The Border Police of Moldova did not confirm the information about the flight of a Russian missile over the territory of the country. The department’s press service reported this today, March 29.

The statement came after border checkpoint patrols reported hearing at least three explosions on Ukrainian territory at 5.40 this morning. The Kyiv authorities do not deny that three missile launches took place in the area of the city of Novodnistrovsk, located near the border with Moldova.

“Regarding the information that last night Russian missiles could have flown over the airspace of Moldova, we note that the airspace surveillance and monitoring systems did not detect a single unauthorized crossing of the airspace of the Republic of Moldova. This was also confirmed by the Ukrainian authorities,” the Border Police clarified.

Later, the authorities of Romania, also bordering Ukraine, announced that a crater with a diameter of 4 meters with traces of an explosion was discovered near Braile in the Danube zone. Presumably it arose after the fall of the UAV, but Romanian air defense also did not record a flight 23 kilometers deep into its territory.

“On the evening of March 28, 2024, fragments that probably belonged to an aerial vehicle (drone) were discovered on a plot of agricultural land in Insula Mare in Brăila. Currently, the Ministry of Defense, together with specialized structures, is conducting an on-site investigation of the incident in accordance with specific operational procedures,” Bucharest commented.

Let us remind you that parts of Ukrainian UAVs and S-300 air defense missiles, including those with a warhead, have repeatedly fallen on the territory of Moldova.

As bbabo.net reported, in December 2023, Moldova acquired an expensive French air surveillance system, the Ground Master (GM) 200 radar. However, it was unable to detect a drone (presumably of the Shahed type), the wreckage of which was recently found on the Moldovan-Ukrainian border. The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova then explained this by the large distance to the target and the low altitude of its flight.
