STATEMENT
of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia in connection with the migration crisis on the border of Belarus and the European Union
Deputies of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia are seriously concerned about the difficult situation on the border of Belarus with Poland and Lithuania, associated with the congestion of refugees from the Middle East. The current situation is a consequence of the policy of aggressive intervention in the affairs of developing countries by the United States of America and the European Union. Most of the refugees come from countries that have undergone international expansion through the introduction of a NATO military contingent, which has led to the destruction of peaceful life and the foundations of government in these countries.
The European Union, instead of constructive interaction with the Republic of Belarus, which for the first time faced a wave of migration in the European direction, actually avoided solving the problem. The use of a policy of double standards in relation to the protection of human rights, the application of international law and the principles of humanism is obvious.
The Polish security forces, blocking the border crossing, began to use tear gas, water cannons and firearms against peaceful defenseless people, including children, which we consider unacceptable.
The deputies of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia are convinced that such manifestations of irresponsible state policy of Western countries, artificial aggravation of the situation and the escalation of the migration crisis should be adequately assessed and become the subject of proceedings by the relevant competent international structures and organizations.
We call on the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the European Parliament and other structures of the European Union to give an objective public assessment of such radical actions and to take concrete measures to resolve the crisis.
We express the hope that common sense and a constructive approach of the European and American sides to the fulfillment of their international obligations in the field of refugee rights will prevail.
