The number of detained participants in the riots in Kazakhstan exceeded 5 thousand

More than five thousand people who took part in the riots were detained in Kazakhstan. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic. Pre-trial investigations have begun on the facts of murders, violence against government officials, robberies, hooliganism and thefts.

Armed individuals opened fire indiscriminately in the streets, killing police officers, military personnel and ordinary citizens.

Acting Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan Yerlan Turgumbayev said that during the riots, more than 400 vehicles were damaged and destroyed, of which 346 were police. The looters have plundered more than 100 large trade facilities and banks.

"The criminals disguised themselves in the uniform of police officers and military personnel and committed illegal actions," added the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (quoted by TASS).
