Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on the air of Channel One that before meeting with US representatives, Russia had specifically formulated approaches that should not be deviated from.

He stressed that American diplomats and politicians should prepare for compromises, not Russia.

“The Russian side came here with a clear position, which contains a number of elements, in my opinion, quite understandable and formulated so clearly, including at the highest level, that there simply cannot be deviations from these our approaches,” Ryabkov noted.

At present, consultations between Russia and the United States continue on the issue of ensuring security guarantees.

Sergei Ryabkov heads the Russian delegation. First Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman is taking part in the talks on behalf of American diplomats.

Consultations are being held in Geneva on January 9 and 10 on Moscow's proposals on security guarantees. A meeting of the Russia-NATO Council is scheduled for January 12 in Brussels. The next day in Vienna, consultations are planned at the platform of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
