Fooled: the infamous Ola S1 Pro electric scooter turned out to be without the promised cruise control, hyper mode and navigation

The Ola S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters began arriving at their owners in December 2021. However, the manufacturer faced numerous complaints about range, power, quality and software. In addition, users have complained that the scooters do not have the features the company had promised earlier. OLA Electric's chief marketing officer has now provided an update on the situation.

The Ola S1 Pros currently come without key features such as cruise control, hyper mode, hill climb assist, and navigation functionality that is common to the Ola S1 and S1 Pro models.

Varun Dubey, Marketing Director of Ola Electric, said in an interview that “features such as cruise control, hill hold, navigation and others will be available by June 2022. This is what we are going to provide, and this is not just about these functions. As consumers continue to use the scooter, we will learn and add more and more features. ”

For us, a scooter is not only a hardware platform, but also a software platform, and even in September, when we introduced scooters and conducted test rides with media representatives, we clearly explained that the software will be updated in stages. We are going to release these features as important software updates over the next few months in 2022.

In addition, the CEO also responded to S1 Pro customer complaints about range mismatch, stating that the scooter has a certified range of 181 km / s, which is measured for ideal conditions. The S1 Pro electric scooter has a real range of 135 km.

The manufacturer said that buyers of the standard Ola S1 model can get an older Ola S1 Pro module in return, but will not be able to take advantage of this model.

In the first 24 hours after the start of accepting pre-orders, more than 100,000 people lined up, and in a few days more than 1 million pre-orders were collected. The company said this level of pre-ordering automatically makes Ola the most popular electric scooter in the world.
