Micron is credited with intending to build a new plant in the US

Micron, which sold its Lehi, Utah plant to TI last October, is looking to build a new, possibly more modern plant in the US. At least, such an intention is attributed to her by rumors. According to the same rumors, the city of Austin, Texas may be chosen as the location for the new Micron plant.

Micron currently has two factories in Virginia and one in Idaho, plus four in Singapore, four in Taiwan, one in China and one in Japan. The source recalls that Micron used to have a plant in Texas, in the suburbs of Dallas, so this state is not alien to the company. According to unofficial information, Micron initially looked at North Carolina, but later, apparently, plans changed.

Micron announced last year that it would invest about $150 million to expand and modernize its current plants, and possibly build additional ones. When the final decision on construction will be made is still unknown. Given Micron's specialization, the factory will obviously produce DRAM memory or NAND flash memory.
