MoviePass movie ticket subscription service will work again

Two years after the closure, the popular movie ticket subscription service MoviePass will resume operations. This will happen in the summer.

The startup offered unlimited movie tickets for a monthly fee of $10. It was then acquired by Helios and Matheson Analytics but went bankrupt in 2019. The company was recently bought out by Stacy Spikes, who was fired from MoviePass in 2018.

Spikes announced the relaunch of the company, adding that he now plans to turn the business into a "co-op." He added that MoviePass users will be able to partially own the company and receive a lifetime subscription.

The head of MoviePass said his vision for the company's future is "based on web3 technology." The company will move away from the single-user card system, and everyone will be able to bring a friend to the service. MoviePass 2.0 will also run on a tiered system with a new app and credit system that will change based on factors such as peak movie theater hours.

MoviePass has big ambitions for subscribers. By 2030, the company wants to capture 30% of the cinema audience market.

MoviePass will introduce PreShow, a technology that will give users credits for watching ads. These credits can then be used to purchase tickets.

Since MoviePass closed down, many movie theaters have launched their own subscription models, but the service has no intention of integrating third-party subscriptions.
