The Ministry of Information of Belarus stated that it blocked the Russian portal TJournal due to the placement there of "information recognized by a court decision as extremist materials."
“The distribution of this information is prohibited in accordance with Article 38 of the Law of the Republic of Belarus “On the Mass Media,” the publication on the agency’s website says.
It is noted that it will be possible to resume access to TJ in the republic at the request of the owner after the elimination of violations.
The editors of the portal, in turn, said that they did not know what kind of material violates the legislation of Belarus.
“We have not received clarifications from the Belarusian authorities yet. Therefore, we do not know what kind of material we are talking about, ”the journalists said.
A day earlier, TJournal announced the blocking of its website in Belarus. Initially, the users of the portal paid attention to the blocking. According to them, the site has ceased to open on the MTS and Beltelecom networks since February 9.
