The social network Twitter has announced the addition of a new function to increase or decrease the speed of video playback from 0.25x to 2x. The option has been launched in test mode and is available for users of Android devices and in browsers.
The playback speed icon is located in the upper right corner of the Twitter video interface. For it to appear, you need to go to the settings.
Phone and iPad users are not yet able to speed up and slow down the speed of video playback.
Twitter spokesman Joseph Nunez says the new feature is available on "Tweet Videos", "Ampify Videos", "Voice Tweets", "Videos in DM" and "Video Live Replays" depending on the platform. He promised that soon the test version of the option will be available for users of iOS devices.
Last September, reverse engineer Jane Manchun Wong revealed that Twitter was working on a feature to change the speed of video playback. Then she managed to get the option to work.
In February of this year, Twitter expanded the test dislike feature to users around the world and all relevant platforms. A public release date is yet to be announced. Currently, dislike icons are displayed only for the control group of users. The social network began testing the dislike button last summer for owners of iOS devices.
Earlier in February, Twitter users drew attention to the appearance of a form for posting articles on the social network. Wong suggested that the feature will be added in an upcoming update. Initially, Twitter allowed you to post messages with a length of 140 characters, but in 2017 the company expanded the number of characters to 280 characters.
At the end of last year, Twitter introduced the automatic creation of subtitles in most languages of the world for new videos. The option is available for users of Android and iOS devices, as well as in browsers.
