Seagate has introduced a new line of external hard drives for the PS4 and PS5 consoles. Users are offered a memory capacity of 2 and 4 TB, and a special version dedicated to the release of Horizon Forbidden West is equipped with 5 TB.
The company noted that modern games are beginning to take up more disk space and owners of game consoles need external drives that would have a large amount of memory and high speed. To this end, Seagate has released licensed Game Drive external hard drives.
The line is based on 2.5-inch Seagate BarraCuda drives with a rotation speed of 5,400 rpm. The sequential read/write speed is up to 140MB/s, and SMR technology is used for writing. The drive connects to the console using a USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface. Seagate separately emphasized that it specifically optimized the operation of drives for PS4 and PS5, but did not tell how.
In total, the range consists of 4 hard drives:
Game Drive 2TB - $93;
Game Drive 4 TB - $140;
Game Drive version of Horizon Forbidden West 2TB - $100;
Game Drive version of Horizon Forbidden West 5TB - $160.
In Russia, sales have not yet begun, and so far only the subscription form for notifications about the start of pre-orders is available. It is important to note that the Horizon Forbidden West version differs from the classic version only in a thematic print on the case and an increased amount of memory in the older version.
