The main killer of the flagships failed the strength test

Blogger JerryRigEverything (Zach Nelson), known for his smartphone strength tests, tested one of the first flagships of 2022, the OnePlus 10 Pro. The device performed decently when testing the scratch resistance of the case and screen, but cracked in half when Nelson tried to bend it.

After the blogger's first attempt at bending, the frame of the OnePlus 10 Pro noticeably changed shape, although before that Nelson demonstrated that it was made of what seemed to be durable metal. At the same time, the glass of the back panel was badly cracked. On the second attempt, with much less effort, the video maker broke the device completely. The weak point of the device was the area under the massive camera in the area of the volume buttons.

After peeling off the back cover, the blogger saw the internal details of the smartphone and noticed that the bend fell on the place where the battery cell ends. Nelson suggested that the thinning of the frames in this area is the vulnerability of the design.

It's worth noting that the OnePlus 10 Pro isn't the only smartphone to fail JerryRigEverything's flex test. Previously, at least the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, iPad Pro 2018 and Asus ROG Phone 5 broke down in his hands in the same way.

Previously, I compared chameleon smartphones from Realme and Vivo, which, like OnePlus, belong to the Chinese corporation BBK.
