Rostec introduced a line of domestic routers with protection against hacker attacks

On April 6, 2022 Rostec provided a line of domestic routers based on the Russian Baikal-T processor (BE-T1000) with protection against hacker attacks. This equipment is produced by the Ruselectronics holding and the research and production enterprise Istok named after A.I. Shokin.

Rostec explained that the modular structure of the routers allows you to customize devices to the needs of a particular client.

The Istok service router is designed for use in small organizations with up to 50 employees. A device running a Baikal-T processor has special mechanisms to protect against DoS and DDoS attacks aimed at users through an optimized traffic processing algorithm that reduces the load on the processor. In addition, the device is equipped with PoE ports for connecting a high-definition video surveillance system, IP telephony and video conferencing systems.

“The presented device can be called a new generation of Russian telecommunications equipment for access-level networks and enterprise-class aggregation. Its software is completely domestic, and the hardware platform is made on the territory of the Russian Federation,” Rostec explained.

In fact, the first line of Russian service routers is designed to organize communication with unloaded end objects, communication nodes of corporate networks, telecom operators and service providers.

There are already three models of network devices in production: ISN41508T, ISN41508T4 and ISN41508T3-M, which differ in the presence or absence of expansion slots and a different number of connection ports. All models use the Marvell Link Street 88E6390X chip as a switching factory.

The manufacturer claims the average service life of the devices is 5 years, and the time between failures is at least 45 thousand hours.

The Istok service router supports a wide range of L2/L3 multicast protocols (PIM SM, PIM DM, PIM SSM, MLD and IGMP snooping), provides several L3 functions, including OSPF, BGP and VRRP, meeting the needs of enterprises in access and aggregation services and allowing you to use various voice, video and data applications. The solution supports MAC address authentication, 802.1X authentication, and portal authentication, and implements dynamic policy delivery (VLAN, QoS, and ACL) to users, as well as standard network security, network reliability, and monitoring and management features. The throughput of these devices in routing mode is at least 9.38 Gb / s with a frame size of 1500 bytes.

When manually configuring the device, enter the configure terminal command to enter the configuration mode.

You can also download documentation, BMC firmware, and boot software for the router from the manufacturer's website.

It is noteworthy that the website of the processor manufacturer Baikal Electronics has been under development since March 2022, previously posted specifications and descriptions of the Russian developments of this company are not available there.

Istok also has more powerful network solutions such as ISN80600 2U based on Elbrus-8CB, which is a high-performance platform with a high level of scalability used at the edge of the network of telecom operators, large departmental and commercial organizations. These devices have a throughput in routing mode of at least 25 Gb/s.

At the beginning of April, 2022 Rostec told about successful production of the first miniature microdisplay in Russia on organic electroluminescent light-emitting diodes (OLED display).

On April 4, 2022, the Rostec State Corporation announced that it could, if necessary, transfer any domestic airline to its Russian Leonardo reservation system, developed by RT-Transcom (part of Rostec) in partnership with Sirena-Travel, within a day, if necessary.
