Japan launched the first mobile tower that uses the Starlink satellite system for data transmission. It is located on Hatsushima Island in Sagami Bay. According to the company KDDI, which owns the tower, this will provide coverage on a remote area of ​​land and will make it possible to use modern communications.

In the future, the company intends to build on its success and combine all 1,200 towers into a common system. Now they are connected via fiber optic. Such an association will provide access to the Internet in the most remote areas of the country.

Judging by the tests that were carried out at KDDI, communication through Starlink is not inferior in quality to fiber-optic communication lines. The company specified that they will soon offer Starlink Business services for enterprises and government agencies.

As for the satellite system itself, it was put into operation in Japan in October. So far, it has been operating in Tokyo and the north of the country, but it is planned to deploy throughout the territory before the end of the year. And in 2023, Starlink will appear in South Korea.

Apparently, the territories of Russia, Belarus, China, North Korea, Syria, Afghanistan, Cuba and Venezuela will remain without coverage. At the same time, it was previously reported that Starlink services would rise in price on the territory of Ukraine.
