The Russian replacement for Hubble, the Spektr-UF space observatory, is planned to be launched before the end of 2028.

Roscosmos announced that they plan to launch the Spektr-UV space observatory with an ultraviolet telescope into orbit to study galaxies, new stars and exoplanets at the end of 2028.

Earlier it was reported that the launch of the observatory will be carried out on the Angara-A5M rocket with a DM-type upper stage from the Vostochny cosmodrome after 2025.

Experimental design work on the topic "Spektr-UV" is currently at the stage of developing working design documentation, manufacturing components of the spacecraft and conducting their ground experimental testing.

At the beginning of the year, Academician Lev Zeleny, deputy chairman of the RAS Space Council, said that the new space observatory could take the place of the American Hubble.

Hubble has been in operation for more than 30 years and is slowly disappearing from the scene. The new James Webb Space Telescope is starting work, but it operates in a different range. In fact, "UV Spectrum", being launched in time, will become a window to the Universe not only for Russian scientists to study the Universe in the ultraviolet range, but, as it were, can take the place of Hubble.
