Innostage presented an interuniversity SOC project in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates

Innostage presented a project for an inter-university Cyber Threat Center (SOC) in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The presentation talked about the creation and features of the Interuniversity SOC and how to train information security specialists with the help of this SOC, they told the information service and the press service of Innostage.

According to Innostage CEO Aidar Guzairov, in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates the problem with the shortage of personnel was solved by opening large-scale training centers. In the mentioned regions, work is underway to implement all necessary procedures: launching relevant state programs, synchronizing with development strategies, analyzing the nuances of regional legislation in the field of cybersecurity and cross-border data transfer, and so on. The emergence of an interuniversity SOC will make it possible to achieve similar goals with less investment, using existing university infrastructures. The intercollegiate SOC will also give students practical experience in countering real-life attacks.

The first interuniversity SOC was created in the Republic of Tatarstan on the basis of four educational institutions: Kazan National Research Technical University named after A.N. Tupolev (KNRTU-KAI), Kazan Federal University (KFU), Kazan State Energy University (KGEU) and Innopolis University. It was launched in September 2023. According to the creators, the main task of the interuniversity SOC is to increase the level of information security in Russian universities and provide practical training for information security specialists from their student days.

The intercollegiate SOC is located on a technology platform located within the Innostage perimeter. The platform includes: a system for collecting and correlating information security events based on the Positive Technologies solution, and an automation system for incident response Innostage IRP. Students from specialized university departments are involved in monitoring incidents. Teachers and employees of university IT departments monitor the work of the Center’s analysts and are responsible for responding to incidents. In emergency situations, Innostage specialists help the Center’s employees remotely.
