Serverspace has added support for the new Rocky Linux 9.3 distribution

Hello, !

We have expanded the list of operating system templates in the control panel and added the Rocky Linux distribution. Now you can create cloud servers based on the vStack hyperconverged platform using the latest version of the new OS - 9.3.

Rocky Linux Features

Rocky Linux is a relatively new, free and open source operating system based on the RHEL source code. Gregory Kurtzer, one of the original creators of CentOS, created Rocky Linux in 2021 after Red Hat announced that it would discontinue CentOS. The goal was to create a completely open source Linux distribution based on the RHEL source code and fill the gap left by CentOS. Rocky Linux today, along with AlmaLinux, has become one of the options for those who depended on CentOS.

Rocky Linux Binary compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and can be used as a replacement for RHEL 9.3 and CentOS 9 Stream. This makes it possible to port and run applications developed for RHEL without any problems;

The composition includes new versions of compilers and tools for developers, and server and system packages have also been updated. In addition, Rocky Linux 9.3 merges the kernel-rt package with a subpackage of the kernel package and introduces a new version of Java through the java-21-openjdk package. It also updates the AMI for AWS EC2 AMD and Intel 64-bit architectures to support UEFI booting in addition to Legacy BIOS booting.

The OS provides a stable experience with regular updates and a 10-year support lifecycle.

For more details, you can check out the release notes.

How to deploy a VPS with Rocky Linux OS?

Register on the Serverspace website or, if you are already a Serverspace user, go to the control panel.

Open the vStack Cloud section in the panel and go to the “Servers” tab.

Select Rocky Linux 9.3 distribution.

Select the data center and suitable resources for the cloud server: CPU, RAM, SSD capacity and channel width.

Deploy a cloud server using the “Create” button.

A virtual server running Rocky Linux will be automatically created and will appear in the list of servers in the control panel.

Have a nice work,

Serverspace Team!
